Bonagrass Grove stepped up their pace to rip through the opposition on day two of the women’s Subway indoor national league at Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth, on Sunday.
They demolished Reid Kerr College Kelburne 7-2, with Jaime Lyon, Evie Durham, Pauline Stott, LinSey Glass (2), Nikki Kleppang and Nicky Kidd all queueing up to fire the ball into the net..Grove then swept aside the Western defence with passes at pace. Goals from Lyon, Kleppang, and a first-half hat-trick by the impressive Glass made it 5-1 by half-time. Lyon netted her second and Glass her fourth to make it a 7-3 rout for the defending champions..
Grove maintained their 100% record by defeating Wanderers 7-1, with Stott netting four of them, supported by another two from Glass, taking her tally for the day to seven, and one for Kidd. That enabled Grove to claim sole possession of the top of the table, a position they quite clearly deserved.
In the other half of the first division being played at DISC, Bell Lawrie Grove emerged as the day’s biggest winner, defeating both Milne Craig Clydesdale and CALA Edinburgh 5-2, after being held to a 2-2 draw by Bon Accord MBC. That took them into third place in the table with 11 points, behind Grove (15) and Western (12).
Well done the Grovies!!
