BonaGrass Grove Ladies Hockey Club

Midlands Indoor League

BonaGrass played St Andrews University in the second game of their Midlands Indoor campaign last night and emerged 5-4 winners.

After being down 2-0 early in the first half, Debs McLeod pulled a goal back with 5 minutes remaining from some good play between Rachel Osbourne and Vicky Ransford.  Jackie Brown levelled the game at 2-2 just before half time with a penalty corner strike.

BonaGrass took the lead in the first minute of the second half when Pammy Brown picked up a through ball from Susie Roberts, moved inside her defender and squared the ball to Debs McLeod who fired high into the roof of the net with a stunning reverse stick shot to make it 3-2.

St Andrews hit back almost immediately, some sloppy defending by BonaGrass letting them score to tie at 3-3.

With 5 minutes remaining, Debs McLeod earned BonaGrass a penalty corner and Jackie Brown stepped up to fire high into the roof of the net to make it 4-3.

St Andrews then squared the game with 3 minutes remaining.

BonaGrass pressed the game and Rachel, Oz and McLeod all came close to scoring.  McLeod then won BonaGrass another corner with 70 seconds remaining and to complete her hat-trick and give BonaGrass a 5-4 victory, Jackie Brown fired the ball into the roof of the net to grind out a result.
