BonaGrass Grove Ladies Hockey Club

BonaGrass played Madras in their 4^th Midlands League game and ran our 6-1 winners courtesy of a superb Rachel Cruickshank hat-trick.

BonaGrass took the lead in the 3^rd minute when McLeod fired the ball home from the edge of the circle.  BonaGrass scored their 2^nd and Cruickshank’s first following good play between McLeod and Roberts who found Cruickshand with a square pass who slammed the ball in to make it 2-0.

The best goal of the game came in the 8^th minute from good patient play at the back between Aitken and Brown, who played a one two with Oz then drilled a long through ball to McLeod on the left hand side of the circle who in turn fired a reverse stick shot high into the roof of the net to make it 3-0.

Oz scored the fourth goal after Roberts turned defence into attack, beat a couple of players, committed the GK then slipped the ball through to Oz for an easy finish.

Cruickshank grabbed her second goal with seconds remaining in the second half, again following good possession play through Oz, Roberts and McLeod to make it 5-0 at half time.

The second half started with BonaGrass having plenty possession and attacks, however couldn’t find the net and it was with 15 minutes to go that Madras scored their consolation goal.

With 8 minutes remaining Rachel Cruickshank capped a good individual performance with a 3^rd goal after Aitken, Pam Brown and McLeod had combined to set her up to make it a 6-1 victory for the Grovies!
