Position: Junior Development Officer
Responsible for: Developing hockey for Under 18’s
Reportable to: Head coach and BGLHC committee
Appointment term: 2 years
To ensure that the club has a strong youth section with a variety of ages and ranges from all over
· Promote junior training within Dundee City Council schools and private schools, where possible
· Liaise with other junior coaches and link to the Head coach
· Prepare training sessions and run the sessions to suit the players ability and knowledge
· Link to the Scottish Hockey Union and Midland Hockey Union for competitions
· Run teams whilst in competition (includes transportation, pitch hire, availability, umpire allocation and match teas)
· Submit names for District trials for U14, U15, U16 and U18 when require
· Promote “good practice” throughout the sessions both on and off the pitch
· Link with code of conduct for Junior members and coaches remit
· Link to parents/.guardians and teachers where necessary re the youth development
· Collect weekly payments from the players and keep an accurate log for the treasurer
· Give money to treasurer on a fortnightly basis, fully logged with details of who has paid and how much they have paid
· Ensure juniors pay their annual subscriptions (if applicable)
· Link to DHDG member re active schools competition
· Update parent pack on an annual basis
· Distribute the parent pack to all players (also to players joining mid season) and ensure that the parent consent form is returned
· Keep a weekly register updated with personal details
· Keep medical records confidential at all times
· Link with the Club Secretary if pitches for games are required
· Where possible, take junior players to the Scottish Hockey Union International matches
· Maintain a high standard of coaching and comply with “duties of a Junior Coach” at all times
· Sign the contract in relation to the role and code of conduct by BGLHC
