Committee Member Role Description

Position:                     Child Protection Officer

Responsible for:       Child Protection within BGLHC

Reportable to:           BGLHC committee

Appointment term:    2 years

Main Purpose:

To ensure that the club has the correct Child Protection Procedures in place according to current legislation and good practice and to ensure that these procedures are met.

Key Duties include:

·         Maintain confidentiality at all times

·         Keep a log and all paperwork on personal checks locked in a cabinet/cupboard

·         Ensure all members of the Club or volunteers are suitably Disclosure Scotland checked

·         Highlight when a further Disclosure Scotland check is pending

·         Keep up to date with CP issues and attend courses on the matter if necessary

·         Liaise with the Scottish Hockey Union child protection officer when required

·         Deal with any child protection issues within BGLHC should they arise

·         Liaise with the Police if necessary as part of an investigation
