Sunday 14th June is the date for this year's car boot sale. Help would be appreciated on the day but, more importantly, we need lots of things to sell! Please look out any old unwanted items and get them to Louise Carroll or any other committee member so that they can be sold to raise money for the Club.
We have heard from DCSC (26th Jan 2009) that they have approved our application for a grant to assist with the costs of our indoor assistant coach Jimmy Cox attending the Eurohockey Indoor Club Championships. The Executive Committee agreed that his involvement as assistant coach to Audrey Sime in such a high level competition would be a valuable development opportunity for him. The grant of just under £300 will reimburse half of the costs incurred by the Club and is a very welcome addition to the coffers.
The Club was delighted to receive a generous donation of £1000 towards our European tournaments this season from the organising committee of The Dundee Sportman's Dinner sponsored by Fat Sams.
A fun night was had by all at The Fort last night (Mon 1/12/08) as 19 teams (of mixed ages and specialist subjects!) competed for the honour of representing the Club at the Champion of Champions Pub Quiz next week. The winning team were the "Slow Drinkers, Fast Thinkers" who defended their title from the last Club Quiz (although the old Club members, Pat, Sue and Ali, needed considerable help from their younger team mates). The Quiz was a great chance for Club members old and new, their friends and family to mix and chat and also raised the fantastic sum of £498 for club funds. A big thank you to Louise and Linsey and their families for organising the event and, of course, to everyone who supported it.
