Code of Conduct – Parents / Guardians
Parents / Guardians are expected to adhere to the following rules at all times. Failure by a parent or guardian to adhere to the following rules may result in action being taken against him or her by BGLHC in accordance with its disciplinary procedures.
Parents/Guardians Should:
- Always act in BGLHC’s best interest and promote its positive ethos and aspirations
- Encourage a junior member to learn the rules and play within them
- Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials
- Help a junior member to recognise good performance, not just results
- Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all players
- Encourage and guide a junior member to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour
- Publicly accept officials’ judgements
- Support a junior member’s involvement and help them to enjoy their hockey
- Use correct and proper language at all times
Parents/Guardians Should Not:
- Act or fail to act in such a way as to bring BGLHC into disrepute
- Enter the changing areas when junior members are present
- Force a junior member to take part in hockey at BGLHC
- Punish or belittle a junior member for losing or making mistakes
